| | ABOUT ELIZA - ENGLISH | | Most People Would Call Her Move Courageous, But Eliza Wong Knew Her Future Depended on it.When Eliza Wong was 17, she made a courageous move from Hong Kong to Toronto to finish boarding school before pursuing her dream to attend university. When her plane landed in Canada, it didn't matter that she'd arrived in the city alone and didn't know a soul. She was adventurous, very independent and firmly focused on a bright and prosperous future.
The Right Choice
"There's no doubt that moving to Canada was the right choice," Eliza says, "I was the first member of my family to graduate from a university." The transition was difficult -- she is fluent in three Chinese dialects, yet had to become proficient in English -- but she worked hard and quickly earned her Bachelor's degree in computer science.
At 21, she utilized her academic prowess as a software designer before showcasing her trade as an aerospace software engineer for military defense systems. After several years of working for the government, her entrepreneurial spirit took hold. Deciding to follow in her father's footsteps, Eliza opened her own wholesale linen business. Before long, she converted her wholesale company into a retail venture and developed her sales, management and negotiation skills.
True Calling
As a wife and mother, Eliza never lost sight of her ambition, or her goal to build a better future for her family. From her experience running a business, she realized how much she loved being able to control her own success, but also found that she derived even more pleasure in helping her clients. When she turned her focus to a career in real estate, she knew she'd found her true calling.
